Job Description
MT Space is a multicultural theatre company based in the Waterloo Region. Our company was built off of the need to have more inclusive spaces for theatre, and we take time to learn from theatre practices around the world while immersing ourselves in rich cultural perspectives beyond the traditional theatre experience.
The Archivist will work with the Company Manager and Interim General Manager to document and archive MT Space’s productions, including scripts and production histories for archival publishing.
Responsibilities will include:
- Collecting and organizing physical texts (production binders, stage management books, scripts, dramaturgical documents)
- Preserving and securing original documents for safe keeping in MT Space office/storage
- Digitizing and editing existing scripts
- Organizing texts into an anthology format
- Researching production and touring histories of MT Space shows
- Compiling all production histories and show descriptions withdramaturgical context
- Digitizing hard copy press / media, including certificates, articles, photographs for digital and print archive
- Research physical and digital publishing options
- Research into creative publishing rights for collaborative creations
- Sourcing and scheduling interviews with artists involved in MT Space productions for documentation
- Other tasks as assignedKnowledge of another language an asset (Arabic, Spanish, French, German).
Job Requirements:
- Experience working with Microsoft Office and Outlook an asset
- Office organization skills from previous administrative work an asset
- Experience working within the arts an asset

To be eligible for this position, applicants MUST:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*;
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
**International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
