Position: Production Assistant

Hours: Full-time 30hr/ week 
Start Date – End Date: July 7 – Aug 30, 2025, possibility of extension to October 3, 2025 
Pay: $18.20/ hr 
Location: Remote and on-site in Waterloo, ON 
Restrictions: For Students and Recent Graduates 

Eligibility:  

This position is funded by the Summer Employment Opportunities program. To be eligible for this position, applicants must

  1. Be a student or recent graduate, as defined by one of the following: 
    • someone enrolled in a secondary school (currently or for the fall semester) 
    • someone enrolled in a postsecondary institution (currently or for the fall semester) 
    • someone who graduated from secondary or post-secondary school within six months from the start of the summer placement 
    • someone who graduated in December would be eligible to start a position up until June of the next year 
  2. You must also
    • be at least 15 years old by the first day of employment 
    • be living in Ontario during the term of employment 
    • be legally entitled to work in Canada for the full duration of the employment period 
    • have a valid Social Insurance Number upon being hired

Description: 

The Production Assistant will work with the Production Management Team to assist with project coordination and management in preparation for IMPACT 25 festival. This will include communication with theatres and artists; technical preparations for visiting and local theatre and dance performances; ensuring show needs are met.  

Responsibilities may include:    

  • Communicating with contracted artists for upcoming performances  
  • Assisting the Production Manager with the creation of task lists for presented works   
  • Assisting with outreach and recruiting of tech personnel and stage managers  
  • Assisting with schedule creation and production tracking   
  • Assisting on the ground with errands, set-up/strike and other logistics 
  • Attending rehearsals as needed to support artists’ works  
  • Scheduling rehearsals and booking rehearsal space; creating schedules for artistic team  
  • Compile and keep organized, comprehensive technical information of companies/partners/artists   
  • Other tasks as assigned 

Requirements: 

This is a hybrid position. The role requires working some days in-person at our office in Waterloo, and events around Waterloo Region. Must be available some evenings and weekends. 

  • Experience with theatrical lighting and sound an asset   
  • Organizational or producing skills from previous work an asset    
  • Experience working within the performing arts an asset (e.g. Stage Management) 
  • Valid G-class driver’s license an asset   
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and Outlook an asset
