Job Description

MT Space is a multicultural theatre company based in the Waterloo Region. Our company was built off of the need to have more inclusive spaces for theatre, and we take time to learn from theatre practices around the world while immersing ourselves in rich cultural perspectives beyond the traditional theatre experience. 

The Bursary Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Company Manager in administering and managing MT Space’s newly established bursary and mentorship program.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Track and maintain bursary timeline (marketing/outreach, submissions, conducting interviews, establishing mentorship goals)
  • Scheduling interviews with applicants
  • Contacting and collecting applicant information
  • Collaborating with the Marketing and Outreach Manager to collect and implement potential outreach opportunities for eligible artists who may be interested in mentorship with MT Space
  • Regularly checking in with current bursary recipient to track development and support needs
  • Supporting administration of current bursary winners’ artistic projects, including timeline of development, public presentations (booking rehearsal/studio space, helping create schedule, supporting accessibility needs)
  • Assisting the Company Manager in financial administration of bursary
  • Act as the point of contact for the current and potential future applicants (providing information, answering program questions, general admin support)
  • Other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and Outlook an asset
  • Office organization skills from previous administrative work an asset
  • Experience working within the arts an asset

This position is funded through the Summer Employment Opportunities program.

You DO have to be a student to apply. 

To be eligible for this position, applicants MUST:  

  • Students hired by recipient organizations must meet the eligibility criteria of the program:
  • All students must be currently enrolled in a secondary, or post-secondary institution or within six months
    of graduation and have reached the age of 15 upon commencement of employment.
  • Students must be employed full time for a minimum employment contract length of 217.5 hours or 30
    days at 7.25 hours per day.
  • Proof of student enrolment must be provided to the employer.
  • Students must be residents of Ontario during the period of employment.
  • Students must be eligible to work in Canada and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).
  • Students should be living in Ontario at the time they start work.

The intention of the program is to provide career-related experience to eligible students that are also
eligible to work in Ontario.
