Position: Public Relations Manager

Pay: $18.60/ hr
Location: Remote and on-site in Waterloo, ON
Restrictions: For youth aged 15-30
Eligibility:
This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible for the position, applicants must:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
*International students are not eligible. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
Description:
The Public Relations Manager will work to develop MT Space’s audience and community via in-person outreach to relevant community stakeholders. The Public Relations Manager will work with the Artistic Director and Marketing and Outreach Manager to develop outreach strategies to promote the company’s activities and the upcoming 2026-27 Season. Responsibilities will include:
- On the ground outreach at local community centres, associations, gatherings, and events
- Promoting the company’s regular community-gathering TELL! event
- Develop and implement strategies to build and grow local audiences
- Working closely with the Marketing and Outreach Manager to implement public communications strategies
- Attending local networking events to promote the company and its activities, such as Chamber of Commerce events
- Reaching out and organizing visits to high school and university classes to directly promote MT Space events, including funding and professional development opportunities
- Collaborate with Marketing and Outreach Manager to organize and execute all public promotions at summer festivals
- Support in recruiting the students and the public for various volunteering opportunities
- Connecting with local educators and collaborating on opportunities for student engagement
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
This is a hybrid position. The role requires working at least 2 days in-person at our office in Waterloo.
- Experience tracking contacts or outreach activity using spreadsheets or databases an asset
- Experience working within the arts or non-profit organizations an asset
- Experience working with Microsoft Office and Outlook an asset
- Preferred level of education: post-secondary
