Position: Marketing Assistant

Hours: Full-time 30hr/week
Pay: $18.20/hr
Location: Remote and on-site in Waterloo, ON

Eligibility
This position is funded by the Summer Employment Opportunities program. To be eligible for this position, applicants must:
- be a student or recent graduate, as defined by one of the following:
- someone enrolled in a secondary school (currently or for the fall semester)
- someone enrolled in a postsecondary institution (currently or for the fall semester)
- someone who graduated from secondary or post-secondary school within six months from the start of the summer placement
- someone who graduated in December would be eligible to start a position up until June of the next year
- you must also:
- be at least 15 years old by the first day of employment
- be living in Ontario during the term of employment
- be legally entitled to work in Canada for the full duration of the employment period
- have a valid Social Insurance Number upon being hired
Description
The Marketing Assistant will assist the Marketing and Outreach Manager and Graphic Designer in developing, producing, distributing and archiving marketing and promotional materials. The Marketing Coordinator will also help to implement public relations strategies with e-newsletters, social media, and other forms of public engagement.
Responsibilities will include:
- Working with the Marketing Outreach Manager to assist in creating and implementing a marketing and public relations plan and editorial calendar for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season and in preparation for IMPACT 25 festival
- Researching, recommending, and implementing audience engagement and development strategies.
- Updating and developing internal marketing resources (contact lists, press kits, distribution lists, etc.)
- Assisting with updating organization website
- Creating content for e-newsletters, website updates, social media posts etc.
- Updating free listings
- Assisting in the creation of digital and print marketing and promotional materials
- Communicating with printing companies to obtain competitive quotes
- Helping to build and maintain relations with media partners
- Overseeing the distribution of promotional materials
- Assisting with creation and distribution of e-newsletters
- Seeking and implementing cross-promotion opportunities with local organizations and businesses
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements
This is a hybrid position. The role requires working some days in-person at our office in Waterloo, and events around Waterloo Region. Must be available some evenings and weekends.
- Experience with social media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.) and working with design software such as Canva
- Experience working within the arts or non-profit organizations an asset
- Experience working with Microsoft Office and Outlook an asset
- Preferred level of education: post-secondary
