Darling

WOOMcollaborative
(Waterloo Region, Ontario)

The Show

A manila envelope containing three cassette tapes and one journal from 1976 unravels MA student Erin Zeigler’s entire thesis before her dissertation defense. The story of a woman and her gynecologist lover leaves Erin with a burning question she cannot get out of her mind, even in her dreams: Who is “Darling”? Through various media (sound, video, performance, and interactive pedagogical technology), this production explores the archive of a woman from the past known only as “Darling.”

A girl in a white dress sits on a stage covering her ears. Beside her is a pile of household items scattered around. Behind her is a projection from on top of her on a projector screen and a wooden table

Acknowledge the Land & People

With gratitude and appreciation, MT Space acknowledges that we live, learn, and benefit on the traditional territory of
the Chonnonton, Anishinaabeg (Ojibway, Mississauga, Chippewa, and Algonquin), and Haudenosaunee Confederacy
(Six Nations including the Mohawk, Cayuga, Onondaga, Seneca, Oneida, and Tuscarora Nations).

This includes disputed territory known colonially as the Haldimand Tract,
which originally included six miles on each side of the Grand River, from the river’s source to Lake Erie.

We acknowledge our responsibilities to share land and resources peacefully
under the ‘Dish with One Spoon’ and ’Two Row’ covenants.

We honour that these Nations of people have been living on, working on, and caring for
this place from time immemorial and continue to do so today.
