Social Media Coordinator (Summer 2018)

Term: July 9 - August 31, 2018 (contract position – summer student)

Salary: $14/hr x 30 hrs/week

The Social Media Coordinator will work directly with the Artistic Director to assist in managing all social media accounts for the 2018/2019 season.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the Artistic Director to assist in creating and implementing a marketing and public relations plan and editorial calendar for the 2018/2019 season
  • Managing all social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Google+, LinkedIn, and Instagram
  • Generating engaging written content as well as photos and other images, scheduling, and posting social media updates
  • Working to increase social media followers and overall engagement
  • Engaging with social media audiences through replies, retweets, etc.
  • Using Hootsuite and other tools to manage online communications and collect data on growth and engagement
  • Developing an optimal posting schedule based on web traffic and audience engagement, and following the editorial calendar
  • Livetweeting, livestreaming, and other forms of online engagement during events Oversee social media accounts’ layouts


  • Proficiency in English (other languages an asset)
  • Excellent verbal & written communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google docs
  • Knowledge of a variety of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, LinkedIn, and Hootsuite
  • Knowledge of graphics programs an asset
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Leadership and the ability to be self motivated and directed while working in a team environment
  • A familiarity with and interest in theatre and the contemporary performing arts and/or the not-for-profit sector generally is an asset, as is previous experience or education in related fields
  • An understanding of cultural pluralism and intercultural relationships is an asset.

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. In order to be eligible for this position, applicants MUST:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
