IMPACT15 Launch a Huge Success!

Last Tuesday we headed to the Boathouse in Victoria Park, Kitchener to celebrate the launch of IMPACT 15. It was the perfect venue, and we had a full house!

Members of local community, press, and political organizations mingled in anticipation of our festival lineup. Representatives from CBC KW, the Waterloo Region Record, Waterloo Region Tourism, Grand Social, Centre in the Square, the Community Edition, IMPRINT and more were present to welcome our theatre festival back for its fourth run.

MT Space Associate Artistic Director Pam Patel MC'd the event, advising the crowd to prepare for IMPACT! Thanks to MP Stephen Woodworth, MPP Catherine Fife, Kitchener city councillor Zyg Janecki, and Nancy Barbosa of Waterloo Region Tourism for sharing their kind words and showing a real understanding of the spirit of MT Space and IMPACT.

We made two funding announcements at the launch: This year we have increased support from the Canada Arts Presentation Fund of Canadian Heritage and we have new funding from Celebrate Ontario which will enhance our marketing efforts for IMPACT 15.

Before brunch was served, the audience watched the world premiere of our launch video. They also received a special performance from the cast of Return Home, one of the national pieces, co-directed by Majdi Bou-Matar, that will be featured at IMPACT 15. We were given a glimpse into two stories, two women, one Palestinian, one Anishnaabe.

We were so pleased to see all of the support shown for IMPACT and MT Space, including from Jim McIntyre from our Circle in the Space, who spoke warmly on the necessity of supporting the arts and encouraged us all do be daily philanthropists.

All in all, our launch brunch generated some serious momentum for Impact15 and we are so excited to see it continue into the fall season! Check out a few shots from our event here.
