Anne-Marie Donovan

Anne-Marie Donovan is the founding artistic director of InterArts Matrix, fostering the development of new work in interdisciplinary art, and former artistic director of NUMUS, one of Canada’s premier new music societies. She is a founding member of the Blue Rider Ensemble in Montreal. Her own creative work includes Sounding Rituals, (2007 Open Ears Festival), The Last 15 Seconds (co-creator) with MT Space, and Frankenstein’s Ghosts with the Blue Rider Ensemble and a multidisciplinary team of artists in Montreal. She is currently working on the creation of the opera, The Explosion of the Island of Krakatau, with composer Tim Brady and librettist John Sobol.

Anne-Marie has directed a wide range of performance events from performance installations and guerilla events to theatre and new opera. As a classical singer, she has premiered over 50 works in performances across Canada and internationally (Europe, South America & the US). She is featured on seven CD recordings and has two new CDs set for release in 2012. Anne-Marie teaches in the Drama Department at the University of Waterloo where she was a recipient of the Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award in 2003.
